Meet Joe, a new global brand ambassador for IAMRUNBOX.
Originally from the Philippines, now living in Singapore, 38-year old Joe is an Engineering Manager who spends his days leading a team of engineers designing robotic systems and automation equipment.
A passionate Mountain and Ultra Trail Runner, Joe is always looking for his next big adventure, and when he’s not busy run commuting to the office, problem solving at work, or spending quality time with his 3 daughters, he loves nothing more than running in the rain, mud, and across difficult terrains in a bid to push his own personal boundaries. As we write, Joe is training for his next goal which is to complete a 100-mile Ultra Marathon and beat his personal best time.
Joe has been running to work for the past 8-years, and believes that it is one of the easiest ways to incorporate training into his busy lifestyle. While his first run-commute was somewhat stressful (he was worried that he would get lost and arrive late!), he now arrives 15-minutes earlier than he would if he took public transport, and uses his morning commute to plan and strategize for the day ahead.
Joe’s Motivation for Run Commuting and Ultra Races
Joe started running in a bid to “live an active lifestyle and reduce carbon emissions”, and he continues to do so to set a good example to his kids and encourage his fellow engineers to “get up, get out, and be active”.
Joe’s weekly running schedule depends on work and family commitments, but he has been known to log in consistent mileage, and he has no plans on slowing down in the near future! A no-nonsense runner, Joe needs nothing more than a pair of shorts, a tech tee, a cap, and his trusty GPS watch to hit the trails, although he wisely uses a headlamp for early/late run commutes.
When it comes to fuelling his body, Joe keeps it simple. His favourite food is pasta, he drinks water and coffee throughout the day, and his top tip for recovery is a nice cold beer!
We are delighted to welcome Joe on-board as an IAMRUNBOX Brand Ambassador, and look forward to following his progress on Strava and his social media platforms.
