Raymond is a running enthusiast from Welton in Lincolnshire. He first started running in 2013 in a bid to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research in memory of his late mother, when he ran his first every marathon with just 2 weeks of training! From that moment on, Raymond was hooked, and running has become part of daily life since.
While Raymond runs to beat nobody but himself, he achieved a long list of personal records in 2016, completing a full marathon in 03:16:00, a half marathon in 01:31:00, and 10k in just 41-minutes. He’s looking to beat his current PB at the Manchester Marathon in April, and go sub 90 in a half marathon later in the year.
When he’s not running his favourite 10-mile loop around the outskirts of Lincoln, Raymond loves nothing more than cycling to work, especially during the warmer summer months when the Red Arrows practice overhead in the Lincolnshire skies.
Inspiration and Motivation
Raymond is the self-proclaimed “Fastest Caretaker in Lincoln”, and he keeps track of his running and cycling times with his trusty TomTom Cardio Spark. When asked how he stays motivated, he said, quite simply, “Since my first run, I haven’t looked back, only forward. I truly caught the running bug.”
Weekends are family time for Raymond, and so he prefers to get up and run early in the morning so that he can spend quality time with his wife and children. At the end of a long day, he loves nothing more than tucking in to his favourite meal of steak and chips, and after a big race, he washes it down with a pint of Marston’s Pedigree.
